The Department of Engineering and Natural Sciences possesses modern laboratories for ultrasonic and sensor technologies. Prof. Dr. Rosenfeld and his co-workers have specialized on research and development in the following fields: ultrasonic measuring technologies concerning methods of qualitative and quantitative measurement of ultrasonic field parameters in the frequency range between 20 kHz and approx. 20 MHz, i.e. the determination of acoustic pressure, velocity amplitude or power using electrical, optical and calorimetrical methods, resp. Furthermore they work on the modelling, manufacturing and characterization of ultrasonic transducers (single element and arrays), application of  high power ultrasound in medicine and industry, investigation of ultrasound effects, especially on biological materials, and the application of ultrasound in production processes.
