The current Stahlbau Magdeburg GmbH was founded as VEB Stahlbau Elbe in 1950. The Stahlbau Magdeburg GmbH has 82 employees and is an established company in the international sectors of steel construction. Focus on the production programme are supporting structures for the industrial plant and structural steel engineering (boiler supporting structures, pipe bridges and belt conveyer galleries), steel constructions of traffic route engineering (railway bridges, road bridges and pedestrian bridge) as well as supporting structures of the architectural and general structural steel engineering (car parks, buildings for commercial purposes and sport arenas). These steel structures require intensive testing and controlling methods to ensure constantly security and functionality. Such methods, usually based on ultrasound applications, are established in the company and can be adapted to the given problem.

Special need for technical and technological development sees the company in the field of automated remote supervision of support structures (e.g. stadium roofs), where it has the expertise concerning critical points and signals for warning ranges, but the condition monitoring is not implemented commercially.
